Mikael Zackrisson, på Veckans affärer, är bra. Idag skriver han om bokens framtid och det omdiskuterade och uttjatade google-avtalet. Läs här: Google sätter huvudet på spiken i bokdebatten

Hela bokprojektet handlar om en maktförskjutning. Det Google gör borde naturligtvis förlagen gjort för länge sedan, om de hade vågat vara lite nytänkande. Om Ahlinder nu tycker det är så bra med digitala böcker, varför ha förlagen inte själva sett till skapa något liknande?

Om världens alla förlag gick samma skulle de säkerligen ha råd att driva samma projekt, problemet är snarare att man med all sannolikhet är rätt skeptisk inför den nya digitala världen, och naturligtvis inser att man som förlag kommer att få mindre att säga till om i en värld där författare själv laddar upp sina digitala verk i de nätverk de vill sprida dem. Förlagen står helt enkelt inför samma problematik som skivbolagen, de är på väg att bli marginaliserade och måste omdefiniera sin roll.

Om jag hade varit författare hade det varit precis den frågan jag ställt till mitt förlag: Vems ärende går ni egentligen? Mina eller era egna?

Vi kunde inte sagt det bättre själva. Vi tror dock fortfarande att det finns stora chanser för bokbranschen och förlagen att inte behöva bli ifrånsprungna och marginaliserade – men då är det hög tid att börja hitta nya modeller nu. Men vad händer istället? Branschen klagar på de som tar initiativ.

    Tack för länken. Självklart har förlagen en stor chans att överleva i den digitala världen, böcker är trots allt något vi läser mer av nuförtiden.

    Men då måste förlagen kasta prestigen, sluta slåss mot väderkvarnar och börja fokusera på hur man kan skapa mervärde för författare och läsare. Tänk om all den energi som läggs på att stämma läsare, lyssnare och filmtittare hade lagts på att utveckla nya smarta, moderna tjänster?

    Förlagsbranschen står inför stora förändringar. Det är precis som Zackrisson skriver. Det är en maktförskjutning där förlagen tappar makt och inflytande. Författaren hamnar mera i centrum.

    MEN, det stora hindret för att förskjutningen skall ske till författarens fördel är författarna själva. Tyvärr. Det stora flertalet är skeptiska till den nya tekniken och dess möjligheter. De vill fortfarande få 10: -/bok i royalty för en inbunden bok och 1: – för en pocketbok. Istället för att behålla vinsten på böckerna själv genom att ge ut dem via Internet och Print-on-demand.

    Det har hittills saknats alternativ för outgivna och etablerade författare att ge ut och sälja böckerna själva. Men när de alternativen kommer, det är den dagen förlagsbranschen måste börja agera för att inte, på sikt, bli förbisprungna och marginaliserade.
